Having a good neighbor is one of the most effective crime prevention tools ever

invented.

Neighborhood Watch teaches you the steps that you can take to help protect your home.

It also organizes a neighborhood group which can make

crime prevention part of every persons daily routine, all you need to do is watch out for

each other.

Your job is to report suspicious activity to police. It is

the police's job to handle the crooks.

Most Police Departments actively support the Neighborhood Watch Program.

It is method by which we hope to conduct a continued attack on crime through innovative crime prevention techniques that it involves.

Neighbors getting to know each other and working in a program of mutual assistance;

Start or join a Citizens Neighborhood Watch Program.

Citizens being trained to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, become a Neighborhood Watcher.

If you see a crime or suspicious activity in your neighborhood, immediately report what you

have seen to the police

Implementation of crime prevention techniques, such as home security, operation identification and others.

Utilize your crime prevention measures to make it much more difficult for criminals to perpetrate a crime in your community or home

 Now for protection from the home invasion bandits,I have found a very good pepper spray gun on amazon for your protection.

It looks like a pistol,but it shoots a stream of pepper spray instead,and is much easier to handle then the spray canister most stores stock.

I bet 75% of the world doesn't.

It just isn't the same way it was when I grew up in a small town.I knew everyone including their dogs,cats and horses names.Even after I grew up and moved away from my home town,I got acquainted with my new neighbors,either by going door to door or having a block party to get acquainted.

Other ways to get acquainted with the neighbor hood is to share your expertise in a subjectsuch as Plumbing,Electrical or Woodworking,Fishing to name a few.A project around the home goes a lot faster if you invite friends and neighbors to help.After the project is complete then you can have a barbecue to show your appreciation.

If you have a neighbor that stands off and away from the crowd you should do a little investigating.

For instance two people in Eldorado County, California abduct an eleven year old girl and hold her hostage for 18 years and the authorities or the neighbors don't become suspicious until 18 years after the incident (amazing).The girl was a sex slave for 18 years,for the religious sex fanatic who abducted her.

She had a baby at the age of 14,which was fathered by this sexual predator,while his wife looked on as nothing happened.

This is like burying their head in the sand.You have parole officers that are supposed to monitor these people plus check the home they live in for drugs and pornography paraphernalia.

What about the children next door,you would think they were suspicious of these people,as the kids did not attend school.My children would be asking me why they have to attend school when the neighbor kids get to stay home. Better yet why don't the neighbor kids know how to read and write.

And a recent study by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics reported, "Nationwide, one-fourth of registered sex offenders cannot be located." And "compared with other offenders released from state prisons, sex offenders were four times as likely to be rearrested for a similar crime."

Did you know that in California!!!''People arrested for Indecent exposure with priors are not required to be listed on the public website,'' The California Dept of Justice states, which administers the Megan’s Law website. ''They are required to register with law enforcement,'' but the conviction is not published on the user-friendly Megan's Law website. Boy does this law need changes.

Wake up America,and the whole world as far as that goes...

One way is through the Megan website,another is through the County web site Criminal Calender.Some of these sites are free and some cost a few dollars.But I think it is worth it to know your neighbors that do not want to become part of the neighborhood,especially if you have Children.

By watching the following videos,will surely awaken parents to this growing

problem of drug abuse,stolen children,sold children.etc.

Here are a few suggestions to get started;

Call the local Police Dept. and tell them your plans.Sometimes they will put barricades up,to keep traffic from entering that area.

Check to see if you need a permit from city hall.

Make sure you have a sufficient supply of Garbage Containers handy.

Plan the food and drinks. Call it international night and have each family make a dish that is unique to its heritage. Or have everyone bring their own food to grill. This is a surprisingly effective way to get strangers to mingle easily--they feel less awkward with something to do. Have everyone prepare his or her favorite cocktails and munchies for a happy hour. Don't forget nonalcoholic punches for those who don't drink alcohol and for the children.

You may even want a band to play for the group.

Dress up the block with colorful decorations. Buy lots of balloons and have everyone tie them to trees and fences on their property. You might consider a block theme color and decorate accordingly. Ask each family to make a family banner to display on its front lawn. Hang pinatas for the kids. Tiki torches and lots of twinkling lights are festive when the sun sets.

When FBI and immigration agents arrested a 28-year-old Guatemalan woman three months ago in Los Angeles, they announced that they had shut down one of the most elaborate sex trafficking rings in the country. It was also the family business.

The woman, Maribel Rodriguez Vasquez, was the sixth member of her family to be rounded up in the two-year multi-agency investigation. Vasquez, five of her relatives and three other Guatemalan nationals were charged with 50 counts, alleging that they lured at least a dozen young women — including five minors as young as 13 years old — to the United States with promises of good jobs, only to put them to work as prostitutes. All remain in custody as investigators attempt to unravel the complex case.

Vasquez — quickly dubbed the “L.A. Madam” — attracted attention because she had been featured on the fugitive-hunting television program “America’s Most Wanted.” But it was one of only a few such cases to be spotlighted by national media, contributing to the false impression that cases of immigrant sex trafficking are isolated incidents, law enforcement officials and advocates for immigrants say.

1. SAN DIEGO (AP) - An adviser to Lt. Gov. John Garamendi has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on his computer. The U.S. attorney's office says Wade Sanders admitted Monday in federal court in San Diego that he possessed a computer with more than 600 sexual images of minors. The computer also had a 21-minute sex video depicting prepubescent girls. You never know where they are going to come from unless you get neighborlly and check for yourself. The 67-year-old Sanders was Garamendi's senior adviser for veterans and military affairs at the time of his arrest. He also served as deputy assistant secretary of the Navy under President Clinton. A message left at Garamendi's office was not immediately returned. Sanders is scheduled to be sentenced March 30. The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The creation of a joint community watch program is aimed at beefing up communication between current community watch groups.

The program's creator, said he hoped the group will help bridge the gaps between neighborhoods.

"I've headed up the community watch for just over a year now, and have had the opportunity to see how neighbors can successfully work together to reduce the criminal activity,

The one gaping hole that I've noticed is that a line of communication between the various watches is virtually nonexistent.

 There is a clear opportunity to take our fight against crime one step further, and I believe the Community Watch is that answer."

1. Family abductions: The DOJ study estimates that 203,900 children are abducted by a family member.

Nonfamily abductions: An estimated 58,200 children are abducted by a nonfamily perpetrator. On July 15, 2002, Samantha Runnion was kidnapped outside her home by a man she did not know who claimed to be looking for a lost dog.

So, have abductions by strangers increased or decreased? The DOJ study finds:"No scientific basis exists to conclude that there has been a true decline — although it is possible. On the other hand, NISMART–2 results do not indicate an increase in abductions by strangers."

Extra: Another disturbing category of missing child is the "stereotypical kidnapping." (How does the DOJ define "stereotypical kidnapping"?)

1. This is a case of not knowing your neighbor.

GREENFIELD, Calif. - Police have arrested a Greenfield man for allegedly arranging to sell his 14-year-old daughter into marriage in exchange for $16,000, 100 cases of beer and several cases of meat.

Police said they only learned of the deal after the 36-year-old man went to them to get his daughter back because payment wasn't made as promised. The man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of human trafficking.

Officers also arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of statutory rape. Investigators believe the girl went willingly with the man, but she's under California's legal age of consent and can't legally marry.

Police say arranged marriages involving underage girls have become a problem in this small Central Coast farming community.
