The best way to avoid being scammed is by calling the Better Business Bureau and checking the person or business who is trying to make a deal with you.

Never give personal information out to someone you do not know or trust.

Never give your social security number out over the phone without knowing who you are dealing with.

Never give your bank card number to someone you do not know or trust

Never sell property on a rent to own basis without checking the person's background and

going through a Realestate company,or a Lawyer.

Do not think you can draw up the paper work for the rent to own contract,as it may come back to bite you later on.

Yes it will cost you money,but you will be thankful when the renter defaults or scams another person into coming in with them and falsifies the contract.

If you sell e-bay products and accept checks,wait for the check to clear the bank before shipping the goods.

But by all means do not send people Western Union checks without first checking their identities and who they are working for and if they are a legitimate business..
